Sylvana's Rig

3D Rig

During my VFX postsecondary course at George Brown College in 2023, I had an assignment to create a character rig.

To achieve this, I used Autodesk Maya’s HumanIK to create the rig, adding extra controls for better movement and features such as squash and stretch. The advantage of using HumanIK is its compatibility with mocap animations, which simplifies the retargeting process.

I also added wind features to the character’s cape and individually rigged each arrow in her quiver.

All rig’s features were movie and game compatible.

The model was provided by our professor, Jaime Torres, with the original model created by Ray Thuc Le.

This rig was created solely for educational purposes, and nothing from Ray’s original rig was used.

You can check the project’s showreel to see more.
