Castle Flag

Procedural Animation

In this breakdown video, I showcase an assignment from my VFX postgraduate course where I simulated a flag waving in front of a castle, using Houdini, Arnold in Maya, and Nuke for the final composition.

Creating a realistic flag simulation presented an interesting challenge. With the skills and tools I acquired during my course, I was able to achieve a lifelike result. Using Houdini, I simulated the flag’s movement with wind forces and cloth dynamics. In Maya, I rendered the scene with Arnold, adding texture and shading to enhance realism. Finally, I used Nuke to seamlessly composite the flag and castle into a cohesive shot.
